In the pursuit of equitable education, Education PowerED is a nonprofit organization that engages in culturally responsive educational research to advance equity and justice.Our work will produce white papers used as blueprints for change to promote equity and inclusivity in education by identifying disparities and providing a basis for implementing teaching strategies that value and respect students' diverse backgrounds through case studies and focus groups.
By conducting descriptive studies to contribute to a better understanding of the unique challenges and needs faced by marginalized communities through: 1) Learning from educators who are experienced in implementing culturally responsive best practices through case studies. 2) Conducting focus groups with early career educators (0-3 years of experience) to provide a space to discuss their challenges and triumphs with this practice. The significance of this research is that culturally responsive teaching has been linked to increased student engagement and academic performance, particularly for students from historically excluded backgrounds.
